Jumbo-Visma abandon Tour de Suisse as Covid-19 hits

Jumbo-Visma will not be taking to the start of the fifth stage of the Tour de Suisse as a Covid-19 case was found within the Dutch team's bubble, and as a precaution measure they will not stay in the race.

This is not the first time Jumbo has had to drop out of a race, having suffered the same consequence back in the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana back in February. It was not disclosed who within the team was infected, neither is there an information on whether it is a rider or a member of the team staff. Jumbo assured though that "the situation has no consequences for the Tour de France shortlist".

Sepp Kuss was leading the team and was sitting in seventh place in the overall classification, with aspirations of attacking the mountains later on in the week. Although it has been hinted that neither was directly affected, Kuss alongside Rohan Dennis and Mike Teunissen will be missing out on very important race days where they would be able to make a statement in terms of their Tour de France selection.
