Tom Pidcock had early in the season the Giro d'Italia outlined as his plan, however with illnesses and stomach issues taking him out of several of his spring goals and from training consistently, he switched attention to the Tour.
“The official selection still needs to be made, so until that’s done nothing is certain, but of course I want to be," Pidcock told VeloNews at the Tour de Suisse where he finished fourth and fifth on stages three and four. However, it won't be enough to convince the British team with a spot at the Tour, he will have the need to perform in the climbs of the second half of the race in order to do so.

Pidcock is one of the most impressive talents in cycling currently, XCO Olympic champion, cyclocross start and also one of the best puncheurs in the road peloton. He raced MTB in May - with a lot of success - and has now returned to the road at the Tour de Suisse, where he is trying to show some form and make sure he is selected to the Tour de France.
With Daniel Martínez, Adam Yates and Geraint Thomas onboard, the team will focus on the overall classification. Whether Pidcock can switch into domestique role or have some freedom is to be seen at the time, but before all that he must prove he's worthy of the place this week in Suisse.
