Carlos Rodríguez warns ahead of the Pyrenees: "I will attack if I have good legs"

Carlos Rodriguez remains the best Spanish and INEOS Grenadiers rider in the general classification of the Tour de France 2024. After a tremendous 13th stage for the peloton, where the riders went at top speed from the start of the day to the finish, they are now preparing for a brutal weekend where the youngster may attack Remco Evenepoel.

After the arrival of this Friday, July 13, Carlos Rodriguez attended the microphones to give his feelings of an extremely intense day in the Tour: "Today was not exactly a day of rest, I even think it was one of the hardest days, in which we have gone full throttle from start to finish. The team was a 10, they worked to get into the breakaway with Kwiatkowski, I think we did a good job."

This weekend the peloton will travel to the Pyrenees, with a Saturday that features climbs of the mythical Col du Tourmalet, the second-category Hourquette d'Ancizan and finishes at the Pla d'Adet. And Sunday will be no less, with four first-categogry climbs (Col de Peyresourde, Col de Mente, Col de Portet-d'Aspet and Col d'Agnes) before finishing on the Plateau de Beille, a special stage...

The climber from Granada is impatient to discover what awaits him, and warns of what could happen on the road: "We'll see what happens tomorrow in the Pyrenees, I really want to face the next two stages as best as possible. I'll attack if I have good legs, attacking is the way to gain time. We'll see if I can attack or if I have to be on the wheel."

In the general classification, Carlos Rodriguez remains fifth, 4:40 behind Tadej Pogacar and only behind the likes of Tadej Pogacar, Remco Evenepoel, Jonas Vingegaard and João Almeida. The podium is marked by the Danish Visma | Lease a Bike rider and he is 3:26 behind.
