Brandon McNulty has taken his third win of the season today and all of them have had similar ways, as the American once again did a big solo effort to take a win, this time at
Paris-Nice, the biggest win of his career so far.
“I am very happy with my first victory in a World Tour race, especially for how the week started amidst bad luck and various problems. Today everything went according to plan, I got into the breakaway and had good sensations throughout the stage," McNulty said after the stage. He had come to Paris-Nice with GC ambitions alongside João Almeida, however on stage two he suffered a crash and lost some time. The next day he claimed bad feelings and went on to ease off to the finish loosing his chances of fighting for the overall.
Today he got himself in the breakaway and was one of the main candidates, alongside the likes of Harm Vanhoucke, Valentin Madouas and more strong climbers. However McNulty easily dispatched them at the bottom of the Col de la Mure, the day's main climb. He went on to deal a blow to the group, and rode solo to the finish for a confortable and confident win, his first at World Tour level.
"Arriving at the penultimate climb, the team gave me the green light if I was feeling good and I decided to attack. This is a victory that definitely gives me morale to keep giving my best and aim to do even better," he concluded.
