Amaury Capiot to spend two more years with Arkea-Samsic despite a season to forget

For Amaury Capiot, the last cycling season was one to quickly forget, but the 30-year-old Belgian does not have to worry about his sporting future. The versatile sprinter has extended his expiring contract with Arkéa-Samsic for another two seasons.

Capiot only completed eighteen racing days this year. At the beginning of March he first had surgery on his right knee and at the beginning of June he had surgery on his left knee. And this while the fast Belgian had an expiring contract with his current employer Arkéa-Samsic. At the end of August he was finally able to wear a jersey number again in the Tour Poitou-Charentes, but big results didn't come by easily.

Despite a bad year, the team still has confidence in Capiot, who will also race for the French formation in 2024 and 2025. The team will continue as Arkéa-B&B Hotels from next year. "It's a sign of trust. I feel very comfortable with this team. It feels a bit like a second family. I now hope to reach my old level again. This was already the case in the last Tour of Guangxi and that reassured me."

"In just a few years, Amaury has become one of the important links within the team," adds team manager Emmanuel Hubert. "He is able to take on different roles. That is his strength. He can win if the opportunity presents itself, but he is also a valuable teammate. He is appreciated by everyone for his professional attitude and humble nature."
