The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris provided for exciting racing in an urban circuit, and the Tour de France is looking to keep the momentum going on this idea. Before the riders make it to the Champs-Elysées, in 2025 we may see the peloton tackle the cobbled Butte Montmartre in what would be a meaningful change.
According to the French news outlet Le Parisien the submission has already been given, requesting the passage through this area. It's not know yet whether this will be accepted, but taking into consideration the magnitude of the Tour de France and the success of the integration of the climb in last summer's Olympics, it can be said that there is a very high chance that it will go through.
It will be the 50th anniversary of the Tour finishing on the iconic avenue of the city, and now, but it is possible that the final stage this time around won't just feature the traditional celebrations and then the flat circuit in Paris, but instead there may be some high-octane action beforehand which can include offensive racing and a great opportunity for the classics riders to also leave their mark.
