- LOL - in the times of Merckx he did not have real opponents. It wasn't that he was THAT good, just rest of them were (reasonably) bad. In current times Pogacar to have a win (GC or monument) need to compete with Vingegaard, MvdP, van Aert, Roglic and list goes... And I bet that any of them would destroy Merckx.
- Pogacar is statistically speaking (starting 2021) a more successful classics rider than van der Poel, has succeeded in plenty TTs that matter, sets record times on climbs, and lately has started winning the rare sprint. And he hasn’t been caught doping. The question has always been whether he can sustain this for 5 seasons. The difference is that a professional peloton is harder to ride in, and attritional tactics like happened at the Tour seem to bore and annoy him, making him less interested in hanging around another 5 years. He will likely end up like Hinault, retiring while still going strong.
- Tadej has already surpassed Merckx. Only one of them rode in a fully professional era.
- A lot of people here are pointing fingers also at the male peleton. But how many have though about female anatomy and need to have about twice the body fat of males to be healthy long-term and menstruate?
- You mean VPP from Quickstep? He was born early so thats why he has that body shape.
- Clearly AI generated gobbly gook.
- Kopecky isnt in form, she will not be a factor. The Americans will be a factor
- He is creating a Remco/Belgian cabal at Bora. Could turn out to be incredibly divisive.
- obviously only a few manage to become skinny and retain their power, a lot of others have tried and failed. Its a natural property of the body. It also requires a lot of attention to details over a period of ~3 months and of course not sustainable. I dont think sports professional are that unhealthy to follow especially their process is documented. What is more unhealthy is the anorexic models that maintain their figure by smoking and drugs
- This is perhaps the most cleverly-worded headline this site has ever keyed.
