- This is a lazy take.
The issue is not whether he is driving the bus or taking a flight. The issue is that a rest day in a Grand Tour is supposed to be for recovery, not for a long transfer, airports, disrupted routines and extra infection risk.
Professional riders are not robots. Recovery, sleep and health matter over three weeks.
And “Pog would take it in his stride” is not an argument. It is just guessing what your favourite rider would say.
A rider can be tough and still criticise poor race logistics.
- Chris Horner would say that none of that matters because he has Isaac del Toro
- however, his quotes tend to be taken out of context. he makes a point that the comparison is exaggerated, but everybody jumps on the comparison to armstrong and pretends that he said pogi = modern armstrong. on the other hand, of course he knows that this is going to happen and says it anyways ...
- I am not sure how one could conclude that Pogacar's TDF plans are not affected. Soler, Vine and Yates are usually in the TDF roster. I don't know if Tadej has won a tour without Marc Soler.
- Crazy... Magnier's sprint was about double my fresh one indoors... and Milan is an alien
- At the end of last season he had a farmer's calendar, but he still had to best some strong riders like Jordi Meeus, Pavel Bittner and Lukáš Kubiš.
Looking at their faces as they were defeated, their resignation was equal to what the riders who are behind Pogačar feel. And he had a picture of a Tyrannosaurus Rex on his jersey, which was quite fitting.
Magnier is probably the most interesting sprinter now, and seeing him rack up wins is nothing short of impressive.
Other teams feel that it is really unfair for Soudal Quick Step to have the two fastest sprinters on Earth.
In my opinion, Magnier is a likeable character, but Seixas is not.
- This new generation of superstars does seem to have so many genuinely likeable human beings. Top level cycling seems to be getting simultaneously more fierce and more humble. Or I'm just getting old.
- "Unfortunately in this sport you can do everything right, be in the right position, and still end up on the ground"
Not exactly accurate here
- I think if riders want to issue a publick komplaint about other riders they should learn their names first. It's hard to take someone seriously when they disrespect others
- I don't really see a problem with a cobbled finishing straight; the riders take it into account and it makes the sprint more interesting. And I also don't see what's wrong with the racing - it has been interesting. The KOM battle with Sevilla and Tarozzi on the first day was interesting, and Polti are supporting Sevilla as much as possible with Maestri on stage 2 and Tonelli on stage 3. The GC battle ignited but did not explode, which is exactly what is best for the start of the Giro, as it makes you excited for what is to come. The sprint battle has been highly entertaining though the crashes were horrible. Seeing the breakaway caught on stage 3 with 400 m to go was gut-wrenching. And above all, seeing Guillermo Thomas Silva take the Maglia Rosa has been a brilliant story.
