- Everything here is just openly knowned knowlege about visma declining. We know griescha left, we know visma have no money and we know their roster is getting incredible weak and we know they cant keep up with the likes of RBH and LIdl even. I dont know what ur on about but this is all knowned by all now
- Some signing make no sense, they already have Ayuso, Skejlmose, there were already grumblings then. Then Gall is coming, he is a genuine podium contender now, so should be fine, even though friction will increase. Gall and Ben also had differences. Now Jegat, he is in no mans' land, not good enough to win GC or stages, but good enough for top 10 , used as domestique early will be not good and will not survive the peak fighting on the last slopes. He is pretty good for teams fighting for points but not for Lidl
- Andrew August could be the next big American cycling star. I'd say he absolutely has the ingredients, but it's too early to say he's the guy. His development is one of the things I'm most curious about over the next 2–3 years. He's got a pretty unusual combination of youth, climbing ability, European experience, and already-proven winning instincts. He’s one of the more intriguing young American road prospects right now. We have to give him time.
PS: You should also ask @frieder3, he knows everthing about American cyclists. They call him the "Human Encyclopedia of American Cycling."
- Maybe Jonas is also set for immediate retirement despite he's still a top GT contender. 1'st reason: If he can't beat Pogi anymore, what's the use.
2'nd reason: His wife Trine keeps constantly talking about his retirement.
3'rd reason: Jonas himself said that Visma didn't prepare him the right way to beat Pogi. He's not explosive enough... He also said he almost left Visma because of their training system. OK, we'll see what will happen.
- Ante, is that you?
;)
- Anyone have an opinion on Andrew August? I have not seen much of him. I mainly have only watched the Giro and TDF with a few articles read here and there this season. So, not sure if he is going to possibly be very good or just an average type
- Highly impressive for a rider who was actually racing junior races last year (not like Paul Seixas who was U23/WorldTour last year)
- First sentence: "The 2026 Vuelta a España will start on Saturday..."
- The departures are eye-opening, especially when coupled with the ongoing sponsor crisis. But if you look at the biggest cases individually, it's harder to see a pattern:
- Yates didn't switch teams, he quit cycling.
- Niermann left for a bigger role than he had at Visma
- Benoot wanted to stay, but left for more money
- Kooij left because Visma is not a true sprint team, and TDF was unlikely
Meanwhile Wout, Sepp, and others continue on with no hint of controversy or tension. I think the sponsor thing is real, but that aside I think most of what we are seeing is the normal, even inevitable turnover of a team that has enjoyed huge success over a period of years. Whether they can survive this transition and stay at/near the top is a fair question, but I'm not sure I see anything "rotten."
- Injuries aside, he just had the best year of his career and has negotiated a schedule that suits him better personally. Visma does seem to be going through a transition, but too many top professionals - Wout, Sepp, Laporte, Campy, etc. - are happy at Visma to say something is "rotten."
