Jason Tesson delivered a perfectly timed sprint to win the third edition of Classic Var, taking victory in Brignoles after a tense chase brought back the day’s breakaway inside the final kilometres.
The Classic Var came down to a fast, slightly rolling finale after 176.6 kilometres of racing entirely within Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. With almost 1,900 vertical metres covered and the elastic stretched late on, the race ultimately favoured positioning and timing over pure climbing strength.
Tesson, riding for TotalEnergies, surged clear in the final 300 metres to take the win.
Behind him, Tord Gudmestad of Decathlon CMA CGM Team finished second, with Rick Pluimers of Tudor Pro Cycling Team rounding out the podium. Pre-race favourite Phil Bauhaus could manage fifth.

Break caught, sprint trains commit

The afternoon had balanced delicately between a breakaway survival and a reduced bunch finish. The escape hovered at 20 to 30 seconds inside the final 20 kilometres before a coordinated chase brought everything back together.
Multiple teams committed fully to the catch, including Bahrain - Victorious, Decathlon CMA CGM Team, Lotto Intermarché and XDS Astana Team. Once the elastic snapped, the race reorganised quickly.
Tudor Pro Cycling Team moved four riders to the front inside the final two kilometres, while Lotto Intermarché attempted to position Milan Menten and Mathieu Kockelmann. Decathlon CMA CGM launched early through Pierre Gautherat, but the move opened the door.
Tesson waited. With the road subtly rising and the field stretched, he launched decisively and held off the late surge from Gudmestad to seal the victory.
