Team Visma | Lease a Bike endured a rough day at the Tour de
France, with both Jonas Vingegaard and general classification outsider Matteo
Jorgenson dropping close to 90 seconds during the stage 7 time trial.
The day belonged to Remco Evenepoel, who claimed the stage
win and moved into second overall.
Tadej Pogacar, who finished second on the
stage, now leads the general classification. Jorgenson sits fifth, 1:22 behind
Pogacar.
"We have to take a good look at what happened, but my
personal feeling was good," Jorgenson told Eurosport. "I didn't think
I'd lose much time during the time trial. I felt good and also thought the
numbers were good. Yes, it was windier than during the reconnaissance, but
that's no excuse. The conditions were the same for everyone."
Just a month ago, both Vingegaard and Jorgenson delivered
impressive time trials at the Critérium du Dauphiné, while Pogacar appeared to
be off form. On Wednesday, the tables were turned.
"I haven't changed anything in my setup. It's been the
same all year. Of course, I expected more from this time trial, but on the
other hand, I really couldn't do more than this. We're going to analyze that
now," Jorgenson added.
