GC update Tour de France 2025 stage 5 - Tadej Pogacar the new yellow jersey; Evenepoel in second and Vingegaard over 1 minute behind

The stage 5 time-trial at the Tour de France has had a massive impact in the overall classification, perhaps not in the way most expected. Whilst Remco Evenepoel and Tadej Pogacar thrived, Jonas Vingegaard struggled and has left the fifth day with over a minute of disadvantage over Pogacar already.

Evenepoel rode to an expected victory, a strong performance which has put him in second position in the overall classification. Tadej Pogacar is the new race leader and in second place is the Belgian 42 seconds behind.

Kévin Vauquelin, going through a brilliant opening week, has put himself in third place of the overall classification still less than a minute behind the Slovenian. Jonas Vingegaard and Matteo Jorgenson of Visma follow behind, 1:13 and 1:22 minutes behind.

Mathieu van der Poel came down to sixth on the day, João Almeida is seventh and the BORA duo Primoz Roglic and Florian Lipowitz benefited from strong performances to climb to eighth and ninth. Mattias Skjelmose closes the Top10.
