For the second time in his career, Michael Storer has been crowned the overall winner of the Tour de l'Ain after a stunning solo win on stage 3 saw the Australian grab control of the general classification.
"I knew I had come here in good shape," said the 26-year-old, Groupama - FDJ rider in his post-stage interview. “We had a good plan in advance and we executed it really well as a team. We did exactly what we wanted. My teammates set a good pace and that's why I'm so happy I was able to finish it."

The win for Storer marks a sweetener for the Australian after missing out on the victory on stage 2 and sliding across the line in wet conditions. This time around, Storer was all alone after attacking from a long way out and riding clear on his lonesome.
“I hoped the finish was twenty kilometres earlier, because it was a long way through the valley to the finish. But it was so motivating to ride with the team like this," he continues. "I didn't sleep much last night. There were some physical problems, but halfway through I gave the word that we were going for it. I felt good and we went for it."
