Yesterday at Paris-Nice, Jumbo-Visma pulled off one of the most impressive displays of collective power that has been seen in modern cycling on the opening stage of the French race. Alberto Contador was commenting on the race's Spanish feed and was astounded at the sight of three riders from the Dutch team setting off in the final hilltop into the win.
As Jumbo drilled the final ascent of the Côte de Breul-Bois-Robert, looks of shock were shared across cycling fans, journalists and commentators. After a brilliant set-up work, eventual stage winner Christophe Laporte managed to put the hurt on the peloton and split it to bits, having Wout van Aert and Primoz Roglic on his wheel. After sole survivor Zdenek Stybar cracked in sight of the top of the climb, the trio set off for the stage win. Alberto Contador, former winner of the race in 2007 and 2010 is commentating on the race and even he was gobsmacked at the scenario that was unfolding.
