Remco Evenepoel has recently announced his main plan for the 2023 season, which will largely consist of the preparation and the Giro d'Italia in what is a crucial season where he will race in the rainbow jersey. However, within Quick-Step there are thoughts regarding his future seasons.
“It’s nice to see the Tour finish with a time trial,” Lefevere said in an interview with La Dèrniere Heure. “That can lead to some nice scenarios, we all remember Greg LeMond and Laurent Fignon in 1989 and this could be spectacular too. A time trial for Remco is good. But it all depends where he’d be lying overall at that point.”

A premier time-trialist, no doubt a time-trial finale would be to the liking of the Belgian, and the 2024 Tour de France is set to feature that exactly between Monaco and Nice. Little details are known about the race, besides that it will also have it's first days in Italy. More is to know in the coming year, but following the initial plan, it is quite likely that he will make his debut at the 2024 Grand Boucle, following specific preparations for both Vuelta a Espana and Giro d'Italia - whilst also allowing the team more time to sign climbers to support him.
“Will Remco Evenepoel be at the 2024 Tour de France? It’s obviously too soon to say. But our plan with him has always been that he should do the Vuelta and Giro before the Tour. Given how he’s raced in the Vuelta this year, and how he’ll do the Giro next, I’ll let you draw your own conclusions about 2024," Lefevere concluded.
