On a chaotic and hectic entry into the Pyrenees on only stage 5 of the 2023 Tour de France, INEOS Grenadiers' Tom Pidcock lost time to some of his rivals. Nevertheless, the Brit maintains his GC ambitions.
"It was full gas all day," says the 23-year-old who has now moved up to 13th in the general classification, 2:36 down on the new Maillot Jaune and the winner of stage 5, Jai Hindley. "I lost time but actually, I'm pretty pleased with that to be honest."
Stage 6 sees yet another heavily mountainous day featuring the Col du Tourmalet with a summit finish atop Cauterets-Cambrasque. Staying positive, Pidcock believes he's a much better rider now, than he was when he won on Alpe d'Huez twelve months ago.

"Compared to last year, I think I'm stronger. The speed we were going up that final climb was pretty nuts," Pidcock continues. "Each day I'm getting better and I think I can be quite pleased with that."
