Stage 5 of
Tirreno-Adriatico was a hilly day where the overall classification could also be at play, but the GC riders took it quite conservatively and in the end a breakaway survivor made it to the end to take a victory.
Fredrik Dversnes of
Uno-X Mobility took here the biggest win of his career.
The 205-kilometer long stage began with a breakaway of seven including Dries de Bondt, Xandro Meurisse,
Fredrik Dversnes, Paul Ourselin, Manuele Tarozzi, Francisco Muñoz and Gal Glivar. Although the group did not particularly have top-notch threats for the stage win at first, the peloton let the gap grow to almost 7 minutes and up to that point it began to raise concerns for a few teams that were interested in fighting for the win.
