This year's Tour de France will be one to forget Fred Wright. After a rather miserable opening week, the Bahrain - Victorious rider seemed to be gradually finding his better legs again. But his eighth place from the stage 8 to Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises will remain the highlight of Wright's Tour as the Brit failed to meet the time limit in Le Lioran.
"This was the worst day of my life," Wright told ITV after the finish. "I really suffered and that’s not nice. I don’t know what’s wrong. Yesterday was an easy day, but I couldn’t help the team in the final. I started the day fresh and positive, but I had a moment and felt terrible. I really had no power. I was alone very quickly and I can do time trials... I don’t regret anything, this was all I had in me. You wouldn’t wish this on anyone."
Stage 11 had the most victims of this year's edition, with four riders failing to continue the Grande Boucle. While Tim Declercq gave up ahead of the stage, Cofidis riders Ion Izagirre and Alexis Renard both gave up shortly after each other in the first half of the stage won by Jonas Vingegaard.
