Andreas Kron has had a strong year, maybe the best in his career as he won a stage at the Vuelta a Espana and also showed himself in the Ardennes. The Dane hopes to perform again in the hilly terrain this upcoming year, and eyes the Olympic Games particularly.
"The dream and goal is to get to the Olympics. It is really difficult, because if you are going to the Olympics, you have to perform at a really high level," Kron said in the Forhjulslir podcast. "My big goal is also in the Ardennes, where I can hopefully drive for the biggest results and be close to the podium in one of them."
Kron, 25, has already finished fourth in Amstel Gold Race this year and is well fit to jump up another spot. However his form truly came later in the year at the Vuelta where he won stage 2 to Barcelona in a day where the finale was time neutralized due to bad weather, but had other strong showings which propelled him to third in the points classification at the end of the race.
Denmark will only have a few spots available for the Olympics - as all nations will - and so his fight to be in the list will be intense. Mads Pedersen will be a virtual confirmation, whilst he should fight for the spots alongside the likes of Mattias Skjelmose, Soren Kragh Andersen, Kasper Asgreen, Casper Pedersen and Magnus Cort Nielsen - without ever forgetting Jonas Vingegaard, if he desires to be part of it.
