While facing UCI's inquiry into their controversial road-blocking manoeuvres at the
Tour of Flanders,
Team DSM remains committed to innovation and is currently trialling a tire pressure adjustment system.
The Dutch team had made arrangements to incorporate the Scope Atmoz, an inflation hub system worth €3,000 that enables cyclists to regulate their tyre pressure with a single button press. However, the trial was suspended at the last moment last year.

An air reservoir housed in the hub and connected to a tubeless rim by a hose allows the Scope Atmoz system to quickly adjust tyre pressure, with changes of up to 0.5 bar per second possible. It was approved by UCI last year.
This system operates in a simple manner, through the use of mechanical valves, the pressure within the tire can be controlled, and the rider can monitor front and rear pressure by utilizing a compatible head unit with ANT+ and Bluetooth connectivity. To modify tire pressure, the rider only needs to press a button on their handlebars, which will then transmit a wireless signal to the mechanical valves.
The introduction of this technology has the potential to greatly impact the team's performance, particularly in races like Paris-Roubaix, where tire pressure can be the key differentiator between victory and defeat. Additionally, with the race's inclusion of rough cobbled sectors, the precise calibration of tire pressure could mean the difference between a comfortable ride and a subpar performance.
