Tao Geoghegan Hart "hoping to add another special chapter" to Giro d'Italia as he pursues second win

How far can Tao Geoghegan Hart go at the Giro d'Italia? Throughout the upcoming three weeks we will find out, however the sky is the limit for the Briton as he has conquered the pink jersey in the past. However with the likes of Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic present at the Corsa Rosa, it will be a task of a higher difficulty.

"Racing in Italy is something I love. The Tifosi, the landscapes and the history of the Giro always make it an incredible experience. Each Grand Tour is its own journey and for the 2023 Giro we are lining up with a great team, definitely hoping to add another special chapter to this race," Hart said as INEOS announced their lineup this morning.

INEOS have put in a lot of resources for the Corsa Rosa, having better chances of succeeding here when comparing to the Tour de France. Hart has won the Giro in 2020, Geraint Thomas rode to third at the Tour de France last year, and they are joined by one of 2022's revelations Thymen Arensman, Pavel Sivakov who was Hart's right-hand man at the Tour of the Alps, Laurens de Plus and Filippo Ganna for a lot of support in the tough stages, and the duo of Salvatore Puccio and Ben Swift.

Ganna joins the seven riders that raced at the Tour of the Alps. There the British team was in full control from start to finish, reminding the days of the 2010's. Although Arensman and Thomas have not yet performed at their best level this year, there will be plenty time to build up during the race, as the rest of the team look solid as a rock. "This group has spent a lot of time together so we’ll go into the race with great morale and confidence to make the most of the three big weeks ahead of us!"

Hart himself has enjoyed his most consistent spring to date, finishing sixth at the Vuelta a Andalucia, but third at the Volta a Comunitat Valenciana - where he won a stage - and Tirreno-Adriatico. The signs are all positive for the 28-year old as he once again looks to deliver in a race that means a lot to him.

"I’ve been in good form and have just really been enjoying racing with my teammates. Riding well at Tirreno-Adriatico and the Tour of the Alps has been great, but also satisfying to reward the hard work and dedication of my teammates and our amazing staff."
