Tadej Pogacar wins Tirreno-Adriatico as Phil Bauhaus wins final sprint

Phil Bauhaus took the final win of Tirreno-Adriatico wrapping up a successful week for Bahrain - Victorious in Italy, as Tadej Pogacar sealed his impressive overall victory.

It was a day where a breakaway could threaten, however only a small group containing Manuele Boaro (Astana Qazaqstan Team), Alessandro Tonelli (Bardiani-CSF-Faizanè) and Jorge Arcas (Movistar Team) set off, not putting on the pressure in the peloton which easily reeled the last survivors with eight kilometers to go.

Although not very technical, it was a heavily disputed finale with TotalEnergies and Israel - Premier Tech keeping their sprinters well positioned towards the final kilometer. However in the final meters where it mattered, Israel and Intermarché saw their leadouts function putting some order on the sprint.

As the static camera in the finish line showed Alexander Kristoff making a dash for the line, it was complicated to tell who was coming for the win, with a very chaotic finale. Bauhaus had come from behind and took advantage of the headwind to time his move perfectly, taking a very tight win with Giacomo Nizzolo and Kaden Groves taking second and third places.

Tadej Pogacar arrived safely in the peloton and conquered his second Tirreno-Adriatico alongside the youth and points classifications, with Jonas Vingegaard and Mikel Landa completing the podium. Quinn Simmons took the KOM classification home and Bahrain - Victorious were the team classification winners.
