Tonight, at European time, the World Championships will begin. The Elite time-trial events will open the tabs, with the men's Elite race featuring an open route and a long list of contenders. Inbetween them is
Tadej Pogacar who is aiming for good feelings on the day and a good result.
"Today we saw the course, it is very interesting, fast and technical. If the legs are good, a good result will also come. I want to ride a good time trial tomorrow, without mistakes, and then at the finish it will show what this means in the results sense," the Slovenian told Siol ahead of the race.
With the likes of Remco Evenepoel, Filippo Ganna, Stefan Bissegger and Stefan Küng alongside, it will not be an easy an easy feat to even reach the podium. However, unlike Wout van Aert who would have similar chances, Pogacar was keen on racing the time-trial in search of a possible medal.
Pogacar is an incredibly versatile rider and although his climbing is his most prominent skill, he is also a very strong time-trialist. He's finished fourth at the UAE Tour ITT, and third at Tirreno-Adriatico and both Tour de France ITT's, which include pan-flat, hilly and even windy days. This mix will be seen in Wollongong soon, and Pogacar may be a surprise at the end of his effort.
