The Volta a Catalunya returns for its 105th edition from March 23 to March 29, 2026, bringing together one of the strongest stage race fields of the early season. The seven-stage WorldTour race, known for its demanding climbing and explosive finales, once again serves as a key test for general classification contenders ahead of the Grand Tours.
Below, you can find the full startlist for the 2026 edition, featuring a stacked lineup of GC leaders, climbers, and stage hunters.

Recent winners underline climbing pedigree

The Volta a Catalunya has consistently attracted elite stage racers, with recent editions dominated by riders who combine high mountain ability with sharp finishing punch.
Primoz Roglic claimed victory in 2025, sealing the overall win with a decisive late move on the final day in Barcelona, once again highlighting how the race can be turned on its head right at the finish. That followed Tadej Pogacar’s dominant performance in 2024, where the Slovenian controlled the race in the mountains.
Roglic also took victory in 2023 after a tightly fought battle, while Sergio Higuita triumphed in 2022 with a series of consistent climbing performances. Adam Yates rounded out the recent list of winners with his success in 2021, underlining the race’s tendency to favour aggressive climbers capable of handling repeated summit finishes.

Standout names headline stacked 2026 startlist

The 2026 edition is defined by the presence of multiple Grand Tour contenders, with several teams arriving with multi leader approaches that could shape the race tactically.
Jonas Vingegaard leads Team Visma | Lease a Bike and arrives as one of the clear favourites for overall victory, supported by Sepp Kuss and Wilco Kelderman in a typically strong climbing unit. His presence alone elevates the race, but the challenge is immediate.
Remco Evenepoel headlines Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe and is backed by Jai Hindley and Daniel Martinez, giving the team multiple options in the mountains. The contrast in style between Evenepoel’s explosive riding and Vingegaard’s control adds a clear narrative heading into the week.
UAE Team Emirates - XRG bring a similarly deep lineup, with Joao Almeida supported by Brandon McNulty and Jay Vine. That depth could prove decisive on the toughest stages, particularly if the race opens up early in the mountains.

Elsewhere, Richard Carapaz offers EF Education - EasyPost a proven Grand Tour winner capable of aggressive racing, while INEOS Grenadiers look to Oscar Onley and Carlos Rodriguez as their primary GC hopes alongside a supporting cast that includes Laurens De Plus.
The Spanish challenge is particularly strong on home roads. Enric Mas leads Movistar Team and will be joined by Cian Uijtdebroeks, with both Nairo Quintana and Einer Rubio providing additional climbing depth, while Mikel Landa heads Soudal - Quick-Step’s ambitions.
Beyond the headline GC names, the startlist is filled with riders capable of influencing both stages and the overall standings. Ben O’Connor leads Team Jayco AlUla, Felix Gall fronts Decathlon CMA CGM Team, and David Gaudu returns for Groupama - FDJ United.
Lidl-Trek arrive with a trio of Giulio Ciccone, Mattias Skjelmose and Tao Geoghegan Hart, offering multiple tactical options, while Tom Pidcock adds further intrigue for Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team as a potential stage hunter or opportunistic GC threat.
With so many teams bringing layered leadership structures rather than a single outright leader, the 2026 Volta a Catalunya is set up for an aggressive and unpredictable week of racing.
