Filippo Ganna delivered a crushing victory on Stage 10 of the 2026 Giro d’Italia, dominating the 42km individual time trial from Viareggio to Massa as Afonso Eulalio survived a major test of his maglia rosa against Jonas Vingegaard.
Ganna was in a race of his own on the flat coastal course, stopping the clock in 45:53 at an average speed of 54.9kph. Behind him, teammate Thymen Arensman completed a brilliant day for Netcompany INEOS by finishing second at 1:54, while Remi Cavagna took third at 1:59.
The stage win was emphatic, but the biggest GC question came further down the road. Vingegaard could only manage 13th on the day, finishing 3:00 down on Ganna, but still took 1:57 out of Eulalio.
The Portuguese rider finished 41st at 4:57, enough to keep the pink jersey by 27 seconds after starting the day with a 2:24 buffer.

Ganna untouchable as Netcompany INEOS land one-two

The early part of the stage was defined by a sequence of benchmarks that quickly became irrelevant once Ganna began his ride. Max Walscheid set the first serious target in 48:10, Johan Price-Pejtersen faded after a fast start, and Sjoerd Bax then moved into the hot seat with 47:57.
Ganna wiped all of that away almost immediately. The Italian champion was already 41 seconds quicker than Bax at the first checkpoint and continued to stretch his advantage throughout the course. By the second split he was 1:19 ahead, and by the third check he had all but ended the contest for the stage win.
His final time of 45:53 put him 1:54 clear of Arensman and almost two minutes ahead of Cavagna, underlining the scale of the ride. Bax eventually finished fourth, just outside the stage podium, while Derek Gee-West produced one of the stronger later rides to take fifth at 2:16.
Arensman’s performance gave Netcompany INEOS the perfect result behind Ganna. The Dutchman not only secured second place on the stage, but also made one of the most important GC moves of the day.

Eulalio keeps pink as Arensman surges into podium fight

Eulalio began the day with 2:24 over Vingegaard, but the length and flatness of the time trial made this his biggest test yet in pink. At the first checkpoint, the Bahrain Victorious rider had already lost 50 seconds to the Dane, putting the maglia rosa under serious pressure.
The gap continued to grow, but not quickly enough for Vingegaard to complete the takeover. The Visma leader was not at his best, finishing 3:00 down on Ganna and behind several GC rivals on the day. Eulalio crossed the line at 4:57, losing 1:57 to Vingegaard and holding the race lead by less than half a minute.
Arensman was the major winner in the GC battle. Starting the day sixth overall, he finished 1:06 quicker than Vingegaard, 2:28 quicker than Felix Gall and 3:03 quicker than Eulalio. That moved him firmly into the podium fight and put him ahead of Gall overall.
Gall endured a difficult afternoon, finishing 32nd at 4:22. Jai Hindley also lost ground after a testing day for Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, finishing 3:31 down on Ganna, while Giulio Pellizzari limited the damage better than feared at 3:18.
For Eulalio, though, survival was the story. Vingegaard had taken another chunk out of his lead, but not enough to finish the job. After defending pink through the mountains, the Portuguese rider has now survived the race’s only time trial, although his margin over the Dane has been cut to just 27 seconds.
