The
Tour of Britain has a few stars in it's field this year and throughout six stages it will be showing none other than the double Olympic champion
Remco Evenepoel. The
Soudal - Quick-Step will be racing in a new jersey with special details concerning his recent victories.
Talking to Het Laatse Nieuws yesterday at the pre-race press conference, the Belgian said: “It’s a special jersey with gold bands. I had to fight for it quite a bit, because the UCI insisted that the rainbow bands were preferred, but luckily I got both".
This morning he and Quick-Step revealed what they are working with. Unlike the team at the Vuelta a España there are no signs of T-Rex (a temporary sponsorship move for the Spanish Grand Tour) but instead, Evenepoel will be racing with a jersey that features both rainbow and Olympic stripes on his arms. This will be on the road, where he is a former World Champion and reigning Olympic Champion.
In the time-trials he continues to be the reigning champion for both so he will be wearing a rainbow jersey with the Olympic stripes most likely. He begins the British race today where he will test his form and the first three stages will be the key days for the overall classification.
