Without it's leadout train for Fabio Jakobsen and with Julian Alaphilippe building back his form, Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Team come to the Critérium du Dauphiné with a team focused on stage wins, likely to eye breakaways and aggressive racing in order to take profit from the race.
Under normal circumstances Mattia Cattaneo would be able to fight for the overall classification however the Italian has struggled so far this year. He should have his eyes on the time-trial as will Rémi Cavagna, besides breakaways. The team has brought in several puncheurs, who would have better suiting stages in Suisse but opted to come to France in Andrea Bagioli, Mikkel Honoré and Dries Devenyns.
Josef Cerny and Jannik Steimle complete the lineup, possibilities for breakaways or perhaps an opportunist move in the flat stages - as will Cavagna eye additionally for sure.
Team DS Geert van Bondt talked about the team's ambitions: "Most of our riders have recently completed an altitude training camp and it will be nice to see them back in action. We have a quite balanced team that can go for a good result regardless of the terrain," he said. "There should be a couple of opportunities for us next week and we are determined to make the most out of them as we kick off the second part of the season."
