The 2025 Vuelta a España will take place from the 23rd of August to the 14th of September, and will have it's Gran Salida in Italy! We take a look at the profiles of the first stages that have been presented.
So far we have rumours of a few stages, with certainty including summit finishes such as the Alto de l'Angliru and La Farrapona on consecutive days, as well as stages ending in France and Andorra before actually reaching Spain. It will be a very international and unusual route, which will be presented on the 19th of December in Madrid.
The race starts off in Torino, the second city to host the start of all three Grand Tours. It will be a day for the sprinters as stage 1 ends in Novara and the finale is flat after 183 kilometers.
Stage 2, in familiar Vuelta fashion, will be a 'unipuerto' stage. It's a completely flat stage until the finale in Limone. It's not a very hard summit finish, around 8 kilometers at 5%, but it's going to test the GC riders whilst also providing an opportunity for several riders.
Sage 3 will be an explosive day and the last in Italy, having a slightly uphill start to a day that can see a breakaway succeed. There will be three small climbs during the day, and then the finale in Ceres will be slightly uphill after what is a short stage.
