Taking place on the 18th of March, Milano-Torino is a race that is still adapting to its new spot on the calendar. The Italian classic is one usually fit for the climbers and that is once again the occasion this year. We take a look at the profile of the race.
Its first edition was in 1876, making it one of the oldest cycling events in the entire world. Paolo Magretti won then; and through its first decades the race often had long breaks inbetween, before consistently being held on a yearly basis from 1913 onwards. Whilst the finale of the race is at times held in the Torino city center, most often it has been in the historical mountain of Superga across the Po river. Hence, many climbers and classics specialists have inserted their names onto the history books. Roger de Vlaeminck and Laurent Jalabert best mark the 20th century.
In the current century Alberto Contador has won here, as did Diego Ulissi, Miguel Ángel López, Thibaut Pinot, Primoz Roglic... Mark Cavendish... And most recently Isaac del Toro, who won at the top of Superga in 2025.

Rho - Torino (Superga), 174 kilometers
It is a race of two halves, one that is completely flat for 150 kilometers, where the riders will only look to save their energy as much as possible, before a furious leadout into the climb to the Basilica di Superga, which is 4.3 kilometers long at 9%.
The first ascent ends with 20 kilometers to go and after a descent back into town, the riders go up it once again - this time around with an added final 600 meters that continue to be steep all the way to the finish line. A one-day race for the climbers, something that is not frequent in the calendar.
