Completely disagree with the notion that Onley (and Gall for that matter) have been disappointing. They've come to the Vuelta with good form and clearly want to race. Onley admitted he made a mistake, going too deep to follow Pogacar but even trying suggests he's feeling good. Carlos Rodriguez is another matter entirely, obviously struggling for form.

A lot of retrofitting of hypotheses to the data going on in Horner's account. The five top guys were all racing to win and only found out they couldn't hold on to Pogacar when they were dropped. Did anyone offer a scenario in advance in which Pogacar gets beaten via the tactic of letting him ride away into the wind and slowly reeling him in through an organised chase?

Quite right. Two grand tour wins, numerous other podiums and stage race wins - why do they never feature in stories about the state of British cycling?
