From the 20th to the 25th of January, the 2026 season sees its first men's World Tour event: the Tour Down Under. Australia's top race provides thrilling action every year, with sprinters, classics specialists and climbers alike starting their season in the southern hemisphere's warm temperatures. Here's the prize money that will be handed out.
The total prize money for the 2026 Tour Down Under will be of €97.750 euros. This will be divided into several sections, but a third of the price alone is going to be distributed according to the final overall classification, with the winner of the race earning €12.000 euros, followed by €6000 and €3000 respectively for second and third place.
There will be six stages in the race and in every single one of them there will be an award of €4000 euros to the winner; with the second and third placed riders earning €2000 and €1000 respectively. In both cases, there is some sort of financial reward for the first 20 riders in the race. Each stage distributes a total of €10.000 based on the results at the finish line alone, totaling up to €60.000 in the end.
Furthermore, the winners of the points and mountains' classification will earn €1200 each; the winner of the youth classification will earn €600 and the most combative rider in each stage will earn €250 for their efforts. There will not be prize money for the winners of the teams' classification in this race.
