From the 4th to 10th of August the World Tour calendar continues with it's first post-Tour de France stage-race: the Tour de Pologne. This week-long race in Poland is always packed with opportunities for the sprinters, classics riders and time-trialists. We preview stage 7.
The face finished with a time-trial in Kopalnia Soli. This will only be 12.5 kilometers in length, hence less decisive perhaps than usual in this race, and it will also be one that is not easy to manage. Right of the starting ramp the riders find a climb where meaningful differences can be made with 1.3 kilometers at 5.8%. This is where the biggest amount of time can be gained but it must be a managed effort as the remainder is slightly downhill and quite a fast effort.
Victor Langellotti will enter the final time-trial in the race lead with 7 seconds over Brandon McNulty and 20 over Antonio Tiberi, which will make for an interesting battle for the race win. The INEOS Grenadiers rider will have a very hard time defending himself whilst McNulty should be the man to beat, and the same could be said for the stage win.
McNulty will perhaps be the main favourite to win on the day alongside Stefan Küng who hasn't spent as much energy throughout the week, however might not be in his best form and can perhaps miss out on the triumph here - something very possible even more because the effort begins with a climb where he is expected to lose time to his closest competitors. Many of the race's best time-trialists such as Mathias Vacek or Ethan Hayter are no longer present in it.
