The pink jersey will be the headline of the 2024 Giro d'Italia. Tadej Pogacar is the ultimate favourite for the overall win at the Corsa Rosa, but can he stay upright and healthy throughout the 21 days of racing?
If so, it's hard to see anyone match him throughout the Giro. Geraint Thomas, Romain Bardet and Ben O'Connor headline the list for the podium battle that is ensured; whilst outsiders such as Tour of the Alps winner Juan Pedro López, Visma's rising star Cian Uijtdebroeks and Alexey Lutsenko may surprise.

maria2024202416-06-2025 - You cannot look at torque or any of this so simplistically. It varies from 0 to max every turn of the pedal which gives you an average but someone with a higher max doesn’t necessarily get a higher average and may also tire faster (constancy tires less than amplitude) so yes pedalling techniques can be more or less efficient and the best technique isn’t universal for every rider just like a diesel and petrol car’s torque/power relationship gives each a different range of optimal efficiency.Mistermaumau16-06-2025

Pog is not a demi-god, he is human like the rest of us. Humans have frailties both mental and physical and they can take effect at any time. Yes he is the overwhelming favourite but he has to survive three weeks and 21 stages of unpredictable weather and racing incidents. Lets hope for a good race whoever wins.
Pogacar's broken wrist in 2023 may now be to his benefit giving him more experience and wisdom. He seems so good that he doesn't have to ride "over his head" or beyond his abilities to stay with other riders. OTOH there are many riders who do so and that's when accidents happen. If he can stay out of trouble, he will win IMO.
Good luck to all and hopefully there won't be serious crashes with serious injuries.
Anyone not picking Tadej just wants to be "different", which is okay. Many people pick a phone brand other than Apple or Samsung just because they want to be "different". That's okay too. I'm one of them.
