The last time Philippe Gilbert won a stage was back at the 2019 Vuelta a España, and today at the 4 Jours du Dunkerque the Belgian veteran - who is in his final season as a pro - has taken a win on the race's third stage in an uphill sprint.
The 170-kilometer long stage had a final hilly circuit around Mont-Saint-Éloi, where the stage finished on an 600 meter hilltop that averaged 4%. Not a complicated stage, which saw a bunch sprint finish at the end, however the winner came as a surprise as Gilbert had long been away from the victories.
