Cycling is once again in mourning, this time due to the death of a classic of the 1990s, the French cyclist Pascal Hervé. The Frechman has passed away at the age of 60.
He was a classic of the 1990s and was Richard Virenque's top-notch teammate in the infamous Festina team. He wore the maglia rosa in the Giro d'Italia in 1996 and also won stages at the Dauphiné, Itzulia Basque Country and Tour de Suisse throughout his career. The black part of his career has to do with doping and the Festina case, for which he was sanctioned. He returned in 2001 with the Polti team, but tested positive again that same year in the Giro.
In total, he raced 6 seasons at Festina until his suspension and several months between Polti and Alexia Alluminio until his retirement in 2001. He won 7 races in his career. He was later sports director at the Canadian team Garneau - Québecor. Many of his colleagues of the time such as Christophe Moreau have mourned his passing.
CyclingUpToDate would like to extend it's condolences to family and friends of Pascal.
Pas de mots… Que des larmes et une profonde tristesse…
