"Our ambition is to win!” - Richard Carapaz and Ben Healy look to surprise the favourites at Liege-Bastogne-Liege

In Richard Carapaz and Ben Healy, EF Education-EasyPost have to riders with the potential to assert themselves onto Liege-Bastogne-Liege this Sunday. As such, there is clear optimism within the team ahead of the fourth monument of 2024.

“Liege-Bastogne-Liege is a real monument for the sport. It is so difficult due to the length and the amount of climbing. The best teams come with their best riders and that’s what makes it so beautiful," Carapaz, who was disqualified in his only previous outing at Liege-Bastogne-Liege back in 2021, previews in conversation with EF Education-EasyPost's official website.

“It is hard, long, and normally cold, so only for the tough riders in the peloton,” adds Healy, who finished within touching distance of the podium last year, losing out to Tom Pidcock and Santiago Buitrago in a battle for second and third behind Remco Evenepoel. This time around though, the Irishman is keen to go even better. “Our ambition is to win the race, as simple as that."

“We are a very good team,” Carapaz adds. “Riders like Rigoberto Uran and Harry Sweeny and James Shaw bring a lot of experience. Ben feels very good. It’s going to be a very hard race. Our ambition is to win!”
