Sixteen years on from his Tour de France debut in 2009, the now 40-year-old Yukiya Arashiro is set to prolong his professional career into 2025 after securing a contract following his Bahrain - Victorious departure.
As it turns out, the three time Japanese national champion will be riding in the colours of Team Corratec - Vini Fantini in 2025, as announced by a post on the official social media of the Italian-based team. "A new chapter begins for the Toscana Factory Team – Vini Fantini, which is proud to announce the arrival of Yukiya Arashiro to its roster for the upcoming season," the announcement begins.
"Born in 1984, the Japanese rider boasts an impressive palmares, with eight career victories, including three national road race titles, a stage win at the Tour of Japan, and numerous notable results in some of the most prestigious international competitions," continues the team's introduction to its newest acquisition. "With a career spanning over a decade, Arashiro has participated in 16 Grand Tours and 14 Monument Classics, showcasing athletic and tactical qualities that make him one of the most experienced and respected cyclists on the global stage. His presence will be crucial not only for achieving the team’s sporting goals but also for mentoring and guiding the team’s young talents."
Having spent the last nine seasons riding at the World Tour level with Bahrain - Victorious, Arashiro certainly brings a whole heap of experience to the lower level side. One of the elder statesmen of the peloton, it's great to see someone still totally enthused by riding their bike competitively too.
