Olav Kooij has done it again to take a second sprint win in as many days at the
Tour of Britain.
Wrexham hosts the start and finish of stage 2, it is the shortest day of the race and will be a very fast one, mostly flat, and without any obstacle which may create differences in the peloton.
Four men got in the breakaway today, but as Jumbo-Visma came to the front of the peloton ahead of the final 30km of the day, any hopes of evading the bunch were quickly disintegrating.
Finn Crockett of Saint Piran and Abram Stockman of TDT-Unibet Cycling Team were the final two riders out in front, dangling around 10 seconds ahead of the peloton for around 10km.
With 12.6km to go though, they had been caught and attention in the peloton was fully focused on preparing for the bunch sprint.
After Olav Kooij powered to victory on stage 1, the Dutchman of Jumbo-Visma was once again favourite to take another sprint win.
As the riders re-entered the North Welsh city with a heavy Hollywood influence, the fight for positioning at the front of the peloton was actually causing arguments with Nathan Van Hooydonck visibly frustrated with INEOS Grenadiers' Magnus Sheffield.
Into the final kilometre though, it was BORA - hansgrohe at the front through Ryan Mullen before a big crash took out riders and caused a split.
Wout van Aert again did a supreme leadout with Olav Kooij the benefactor to take a second straight stay win.
