On the 17th January, the first UCI WorldTour race
of 2025 will kick off with the
Tour Down Under. With just under two months to
go until the event,
race organisers have announced that
Geraint Thomas will
participate in what will be his tenth, and possibly final time, at the Tour
Down Under.
The 2018 Tour de France winner looks set to be ending his illustrious
career next year, and the 38 year old Welshman is one of the greatest British
cyclists ever. He’s got two Olympic gold medals to his name on the track, and
so nearly added the Giro d’Italia to his collection in 2023, before standing on
the podium at the event once more in 2024. That podium back in May gave the
INEOS Grenadiers one of their very few bright spots of the season. If this is
to be his last season, fans will hopefully give him the same sort of
send off
they gave Thomas’ friend Mark Cavendish this year.
