The current Maglia Ciclamino at the
Giro d'Italia,
Jonathan Milan missed out on a second stage win of the race to the eventual winner
Mads Pedersen on stage 6 in Napoli.
“I couldn't give anything in the sprint anymore, because my legs were very tired. I really suffered," the
Bahrain - Victorious sprinter revealed in his post-stage interview with Eurosport. “What a day. It was really war to get to the front. That was difficult, but I tried to keep my position as best as possible.”
After taking the win on stage 2 in San Salvo, Milan has now had to settle for back-to-back runners-up finishes in the past two days. “The flight was really strong today, but Pedersen was clearly the best,” said Milan. "Maybe I should have gone a little earlier, but it's okay."
Despite the disappointment of missing out on another victory, Milan continues to lead the points classification with his total of 110 giving him an 11-point lead over second-placed
Kaden Groves. Stage winner Mads Pedersen now lies in third with 83 points.
