The new star is emerging in the hands of Team DSM. The Dutch team is widely recognized for their excellent scouting as well as their exceptional work with youngsters. Following in footsteps of the likes of Jai Hindley, Max Poole has been taking the highest level of racing by storm recently. 11th man of Tour of the Alpes, 4th at Tour de Romandie and Tour de Hongrie, and now on the verge of top 10 at Critérium du Dauphiné - those are not bad results at the age of 20.
"It was yet again a tough day out obviously with today being a big mountain day. Everyone in the team played a part and showed great fighting spirit which was super nice to see. In the final, it was then all about the legs and I just tried to focus on my race and what I needed to do. I think we can be pretty satisfied with how it went in the end. Another big day now coming up tomorrow," Poole said after the stage.
Poole is now sitting 12th overall, 4:32 behind the race leader Jonas Vingegaard, who seems out of anyone's reach, but less than 20 seconds behind 8th overall Guillaume Martin, which could be a nice goal for the young climber.
