The Bolton Equities Black Spoke Pro Cycling team is ending at the ending of this season and some of it's strongest riders have gone into the market. This left Logan Currie without a contract, but very quickly the 22-year signed a new contract as he joins Lotto Dstny.
“Logan is still a very young, but a promising rider. We don’t have a lot of riders with his profile and he will strengthen our team in the smaller stage races and in races with a hilly parcours," team manager Kurt Van de Wouwer said in a press release. "Together with our performance cell we believe he can take the next step in our team.” The New Zealander was the under-23 Kiwi and Oceania time-trial champion in 2022 alongside a fourth place at the World Championships. He continues to be the reigning under-23 time-trial champion currently.
“I’m still very young, but I consider myself as a GC-rider and time trial specialist. I’m really looking forward to join Lotto Dstny next year and I think I will learn a lot in this new environment. The team invested a lot in the performance cell and I’m convinced I can make a lot of progress in this new team.” Currie this year has moved to Europe and tested himself in a different kind of racing, showing talent in the climbs but most of all against the clock where he continues to be a specialist.
He is a resident in Belgium which helped facilitate this move. "But I’m not a cobble or classic specialist," he says. "I love racing here, but I’m more a rider for the GC and a time trial specialist. I want to help the team in hard climbing races or chase the escapees in flat stages for our sprinters. I want to support the team as much as possible and when I get the chance to go for an own result, I will grab this opportunity with both hands.”
