Lennard Kämna leaves hospital nearly a month after training crash: "First step of my recovery has been completed"

Ever since a horrific training crash on the eve of the Itzulia Basque Country, BORA - hansgrohe's Lennard Kämna has been kept in a Tenerife hospital bed, recovering from being hit by a car. Now though, almost a month later, the German is out of hospital.

"Some great news to start the day," begins an update posted to BORA - hansgrohe's official social media pages, explaining what is next for the 27-year-old, three-time Grand Tour stage winner. "Lennard leaves the hospital in Tenerife! He will be flown to Hamburg today to begin his rehab."

"Thank you for all the support over the past few weeks. I would especially like to thank my girlfriend and my family who have done everything to make me feel as comfortable as possible. It has not been an easy time at the University Hospital in Tenerife, but I am very grateful to the medical team and nurses for what they have done for me over the past few weeks," Kamna reflects on the team website.

"I am overjoyed that the first step of my recovery has been completed today and that I can now move on to Hamburg," he concludes. "I will start my rehab there and I am highly motivated to get back on the bike as soon as possible. But the most important thing is to get healthy again."
