It's not been the easiest season so far for
Jordi Meeus in 2025, but on stage 6 of the
Tour de Suisse on Friday afternoon, there was finally joy for the 26-year-old Belgian as he powered to a dominant sprint win.
"It was definitely a hard week for me so far, not really my most favourite terrain with all the hills and climbs. I was pretty disappointed on stage 2 because that was also supposed to be a flat stage, but my legs didn't feel great at the beginning of the week," reflected Meeus in his post-stage interview afterwards, clearly delighted to have bounced back strongly. "During the days, they felt better and better, so I felt straight away that I had good legs today, and I'm really happy to finish it off."
Although Meeus has 13 pro wins on his palmares now thanks to this victory, this stage goes down as only the 2nd World Tour win of his career. With the other being stage 21 of the 2023
Tour de France on the Champs Elysees however, the quality of his wins perhaps outweigh the quantity.
"It's hard to compare," assessed the
Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe man of his two biggest career wins. "But this is just my second win on the WorldTour level, so I'm super happy to take the win home today."
