Jordi Meeus has proven his continued sprint credentials, powering to the stage 6 win at the 2025 Tour de Suisse in a frantic bunch finish.
Four riders were up the road heading into the final 70km on stage 6. Most notable among the attacking quartet was Romain Gregoire, who had spent the prior four days in the Maillot Jaune before losing considerable time on stage 5. The Frenchman was still the best placed of the break though, with teammate Stefan Kung, EF Education-EasyPost's Harry Sweeny and Swiss national champion Mauro Schmid completing the lead group.
With the peloton's remaining sprinters not keen on allowing such an opportunity as today pass them by though, the break were monitored relatively close throughout the day. By 45km to go, the time gap was already down to 1:25. Soon after, Gregoire dropped back to the bunch.
By 15km to go, the break's advantage had been cut to just 25 seconds. At 10km to go, the gap had been cut gradually to 18 seconds, meaning it was still all to play for. With 5km to go, Kung, Schmid and Sweeny were still holding strong, 14 seconds clear of the bunch. Finally though, with just over a kilometre to go, the peloton made contact with the breakaway.
Then it was all about the final sprint for the line, and in that finale, Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe's Jordi Meeus powered to victory ahead of Davide Ballerini and Lewis Askey.
