With a flurry of wins coming in from all sides,
Jumbo-Visma is currently experiencing a winning streak like no other. However, it appears that the Dutch team's primary sponsor may not renew their contract once it expires in 2024, as per recent reports.
Algemeen Dagblad's report suggests that Jumbo Supermarkets, the primary sponsor of the team, is rethinking its sponsorship agreement beyond 2024. The family-owned business faced a series of setbacks in 2022, including the passing of its founder, Karel van Eerd, at the age of 84 in December.
Additionally, his son Frits van Eerd was accused of being involved in a high-profile money laundering case within the motorsport industry, resulting in his resignation as CEO of Jumbo Supermarkets and being succeeded by Ton van Veen.
The company's decision to end sponsorship for the Dutch team was not based on their performance, as they are also discontinuing support for Formula 1 and skating. This suggests that the company's objectives may have changed or that the costs outweighed the benefits, although the Dutch team has a strong track record and ample time to find a new sponsor.
