Demi Vollering on her solo attack to victory at Dwars door Vlaanderen - "Wait, wait, wait and when I saw the moment, I went for it"

Demi Vollering clinched the top spot in Dwars Door Vlaanderen, marking her second major win this spring. She made a decisive move 10 kilometers before the finish line and maintained her lead until the end.

“The team was banging so hard today. We were always ahead of the facts,” she told after the race. She praises her teammates, “Marlen was always in the front. And when she was taken back, Mischa jumped with it again. I just had to check, but felt I was good. Thanks to Marlen, Mischa and my other teammates, I was very comfortable in the race, and I was able to save myself.”

Looking back, Vollering remembers her game-changing move at the 10-kilometre mark before the finish line. “It made me wait, wait, wait. And when I saw the moment, I went for it. Sorry to all the other girls, because I think I was really annoying today. Floortje Mackaij and Liane Lippert drove me a bit crazy. I like those girls, I get on well with Floortje. I always feel I have to say that; Sorry!”

Having competed in three races, Vollering has won two, and she is now aiming for the Tour of Flanders this coming Sunday. “The team has worked so hard here again, then it is very nice to finish it off for them. We are going to the Tour of Flanders in luxury. We are in a nice flow with the team. Flow with the go , as we say. We flow very well,” concluded Vollering.
