Primoz Roglic will remain at
Jumbo-Visma for the 2023 season. To think otherwise was at all times a long stretch, however over the last few weeks rumours have emerged on social media hinting that he was in contact with a French team - with many claiming it was Groupama - FDJ.
However, a representative of Jumbo-Visma has dismissed the rumours. Charles Marsault, reporter of the Velo-Club.net, has confirmed revealed that information. This year has been incredibly complicated for Primoz Roglic, following the abandon from both Grand Tours he has raced.
Having crashed in the fifth stage of the Tour de France, Roglic dislocated and fractured two vertebrae, that were only diagnosed after he abandoned the race at the end of the second week of racing. His recovery was short and fast, yet successful, as he managed to return to competition at the Vuelta a Espana where he won the fourth stage.
He was riding into a podium and fighting for the red jersey - which eventually Remco Evenepoel would go on to take - when he crashed on the 16th stage in sight of the line, after putting in an impressive attack that would be seeing him gain time on his GC rivals.
With the rise of Jonas Vingegaard within the ranks of Jumbo-Visma, it has been speculated that Roglic would no longer have a leadership position within the team, and that he could be set to leave the team, despite having contract until the end of 2025. Those rumours should now disintegrate.
