"Yes, it was a pretty tough day, but I'm happy to be
able to get another win,"
said Vine to Cyclism’Actu, reflecting on
his success. "Looking back, it's a shame about stage two," he added.
That earlier stage had seen Vine lose significant time,
hampering his chances of challenging for the overall classification. Still, the
Australian focused on executing the team’s plan during the final day, and
seized his chance when it came.
"We started with the plan of helping the guys as much
as possible, responding to the moves and trying to put either Igor (Arrieta) or
Alessandro (Covi) in the leader's jersey. But in the end, I followed an attack
on the last climb, managed to make the connection and stay in the lead on the
descent to go for the victory."
There was also a small milestone for Vine, who added an
extra layer of satisfaction to the result with a new personal first.
"It's also the first time I've won with the aero bike,
so it's pretty cool," he said.
