Romain Grégoire, a promising 21-year-old rider for
Groupama - FDJ, is gearing up for his third professional season with ambitions to
build on his growing reputation. The silver medallist in the 2021 World Junior
Road Race had a quieter 2024, securing only one victory—a win on stage 5 of the
Tour of the Basque Country.
Reflecting on his 2024 season, Grégoire
recently told Cyclism
Actu, "That's what I missed a little in 2024, I only raised my arms
once," he admitted. "So trying to win, and then trying to win again
at the higher level, that would be exceptional. On WorldTour races or on a
Grand Tour stage why not."
Grégoire laid out his racing calendar for the coming season,
which promises a strong Italian flavour at the start, "It will start with
a very Italian month of March, with the Strade Bianche, the Tirreno-Adriatico,
Milano - Sanremo, and then the Bloc Ardennais in April and the continuation with
the Tour de France in July."
The Frenchman acknowledged areas for personal growth,
particularly his approach to racing, "There was a bit of impatience, a bit
of lack of composure at times, putting a little bit in all directions when I
felt good and not really channelling my efforts, so that will be the objective
for 2025 to go for results this time."
Grégoire also praised the team’s development, expressing
confidence in their strength for the upcoming season, "It's clear that we
are stronger. Those who were already there have progressed, feel stronger,
those who are arriving are still very talented riders, so it's certain that we
have strengthened. I think that we were already far from being bad in 2024, we
were even good, we lacked results on details I think at certain moments in the
season and we intend to rectify these small details to go and conclude in
2025."
